Field Trip Reminder

Thank you to those that have turned in their permission slips for our 6th grade field trip.  If you have yet to do that, please do so by tomorrow, March 16.  A copy of the permission slip can be found on a post from earlier.  Even if your child is not attending the trip, we need a note to indicate such.  Thank you very much!

1.  Unit 9 Vocab Assessment is TOMORROW!
2.  Final Copies of Cause/Effect Essay is due MONDAY at the START of class!

Cause and Effect Rough Draft

Students worked on their rough draft today.  It is due tomorrow at the START of class; therefore, if they did not finish it, it is that dreaded word:  HOMEWORK!

Cereal Drive

Next week, March 5-9, the 6th Grade Blueberry Ambassadors are having a food drive to collect ONLY cereal.  All cereal will be donated to the Swartz Creek Food Pantry located at the SC United Methodist Church.  The food pantry is currently quite low on cereals and have reached out to us for help.  Anything you can donate, is greatly appreciated!

Cause and Effect Essay

Last week, students were introduced to the concepts of cause and effect in video clips and stories.  This week, we begin exploring cause and effect in informational text.  Student will be selecting a topic (air pollution, concussions, or shark attacks) to continue to explore the cause and effect relationship.  In the end, students will be writing an essay explaining that relationship.

Literary Essay

Students have been working hard on identifying character traits in short stories.  They have been working on creating a claim and proving it with text evidence.  Rough drafts were due today at the end of class.  Those will be scored as a practice score.  Students will be able to make any necessary changes later this week, before submitting a final copy.
