Lego Robotics held an intramural competition this evening. We had a huge turnout with families from Elms Elementary and SCMS all competing! What an incredible group of future engineers in our district! Nice work Mrs. Bielby!

Yearbook students are doing a phone sales contest all this week to sell this year‘s yearbook. They are calling the parents of students who have not yet ordered the book and trying to get some more sales. Great life skill lesson!

Second Semester Update: SCMS will start semester 2 on Wednesday January 29th. Schedules will be handed out in Dragon Time. This extension will allow our students and staff to wrap up any projects and tests within their classes.
Would you like your student to get some extra tutoring in math? The Middle School is offering Free After School Math Tutoring beginning next week! This is not homework help! This tutoring program is an 8 week (16 sessions) curriculum that includes math topics that students struggle with the most. In addition to a brand new calculator, perfect attendance for tutoring will get your student a Creek Spirit gift (Value: $25.00). You would be responsible for transportation home at 3:25 pm from the middle school on your child's tutoring days. There are only 20 spots remaining, so email krobertson@swcrk.org or call 810-591-1716 to get registered. Another round of tutoring will start after spring break if your student can't make this session.

This week our SCMS teachers worked in their achievement teams on high yield strategies to increase student learning. Staff reflected on metacognitive (thinking about learning) lessons, jigsaw methods, and talk move lessons. #Fearless teachers

Our amazing PTO and our school store leaders are at it again! Our PTO donated wonderful gifts for kids to put their name in the drawing for! We have a Harry Potter Lego set, a fuzzy blanket, a flavored drink bottle, and Beats! Tomorrow is the big drawing!
The Miracle of Christmas occurred at SCMS this week. Two student baked Mr. O'Brien a Christmas cake the had icing on it that read, "Sorry for yapping too much."
Pizza Party Purchase! Four of our eighth grade students used their target tickets at the school store to purchase a pizza party with their friends. Target tickets are given to kids as positive behavior intervention & supports. It's like money for kids!
The SCMS bands performed their Christmas concert for a packed house! Thank you parents and families, for your support, and thank you Mrs. Murdock, Mrs. Meyers, and Ms. Cole for your hard work preparing our students for this event!
