Exciting News for Swartz Creek Community Schools! Even though the state of Michigan has yet to determine the continuation of the Michigan School Meals Program, Swartz Creek Community Schools WILL continue to offer FREE breakfast and lunch to ALL students in grades pre-K through 12! If the Michigan School Meals bill is passed, we will be able re-invest these additional funds into your child's meals, update our kitchens and equipment, and update cafe environments and furniture. We need your help! Please fill out the Education Benefit Form through the Meal Magic Family Portal. Gathering this information is crucial for determining eligibility for Summer Food Service Programs, and ensuring our schools receive full access to federal and state funding for educational programs. Parents can create an account or just fill out the form without creating one. Please ONLY add children who are currently registered with Swartz Creek Schools. Any other children in another District or not yet registered should be added to the β€œnumber of members in the household”. Visit our website: [swartzcreek.org](http://swartzcreek.org) and click β€œFood Service” for more information. or contact Food Services directly at 810-591-1864 The Meal Magic Family Portal is also a fantastic resource for families. Here, you can set up accounts for your children to deposit money, view purchases, transfer funds between children, and set restrictions. Both the Middle and High School offer a la carte items for all students, whether they bring a lunch or eat a free meal, they can purchase additional items for lunch. Menus are available on the food service page under the NutriSlice tab, detailing nutritional value, calories, macros, and allergens. If your student has special dietary needs, please contact our food service department directly. This will ensure that their meals are modified and documented accordingly for state compliance, and the school will be notified of any dietary restrictions.

Back-to-School Information and Helpful Tips for Families Swartz Creek Community Schools will welcome students back for the 2025–2026 school year on Wednesday, August 20. Please note that the first day will be a half-day PM for all students. See dismissal times by building listed below. To help families prepare for a smooth start to the school year, here are a few helpful tips: 1. Ease Into a Routine: Start adjusting your child’s bedtime and wake-up time now. Getting into a consistent routine before school begins helps students feel more rested and ready to learn. 2. Practice Lunch Skills: If your student is in the younger grades, take time to practice opening lunch items such as snack bags, containers, and juice boxes. This helps build independence and confidence during lunch time. 3. Organize Supplies: General supply lists can be found on our district website. Teachers will also communicate classroom-specific needs. Having a few basic items packed and ready in your child’s backpack is a great starting point. 4. Talk About the School Day: Discussing what to expect on a typical school day can ease first-day jitters and help your child feel more confident heading into the new year. 5. Label All Belongings: Make sure your child’s backpack, lunchbox, water bottle, and outerwear are clearly labeled. This increases the chances of lost items making their way back home. Early 5s and Kindergarten Families: You will receive information in the mail regarding a one-hour welcome meeting on the first day of school. Parents attend this session with their child to help support a confident and positive transition into school. βΈ» Open House Dates: Monday, August 19 Grades K–5: β€’ Syring Elementary: 6:00–7:00 PM β€’ Morrish Elementary: 6:00–7:00 PM β€’ Dieck Elementary: 6:30–7:30 PM β€’ Elms Elementary: 6:30–7:30 PM β€’ Gaines Elementary: 6:00–7:00 PM Middle School (SCMS): β€’ 4:00–6:00 PM β€œWelcome Back” event High School (SCHS): β€’ Monday, August 26: 6:00–7:00 PM βΈ» First Day of School: Wednesday, August 20 (Half-Day PM) Dismissal Times: β€’ Swartz Creek High School: 11:16 AM – 2:20 PM β€’ SCVLC: 11:26 AM – 2:25 PM β€’ Swartz Creek Middle School: 11:26 AM – 2:30 PM β€’ Dieck, Elms & Gaines: 12:30 PM – 3:25 PM β€’ Morrish & Syring: 12:50 PM – 3:45 PM βΈ» Please note: Building office staff will return to work the week of August 12, and principals will be sending emails with important school-specific details to help families feel fully prepared for the first day.
