LET’S TURN SWARTZ CREEK YELLOW FOR ZACH! Zach Chittle is a 15-year-old Swartz Creek High School student who was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare form of cancer. On Monday, November 2, we’re asking our entire Dragon family and the Swartz Creek community to wear YELLOW to show Zach and his family just how much support surrounds them! Students, staff, families, alumni, local businesses, and neighbors… let’s come together for Zach! Wear yellow, snap a picture, and share it on social media with #YellowForZach! One Student. One District. One Community.

Halloween Dress Code
On Friday, October 30, 2026, Swartz Creek Middle School students will be permitted to wear costumes to school, provided that they are within the listed guidelines below:

Halloween costumes . . . .
1. Cannot be offensive in mocking or resembling another student, school staff member, religious preference, or ethnicity.

2. Cannot feature inappropriate themes, characters or references to drugs, alcohol, or sex.

3. Props including plastic swords, guns, wands, etc. are not permitted. If brought to school, these items will be held in the office until a parent or guardian can pick them up.

4. Makeup, face/body paint, or hair coloring must be applied before arriving at school. STUDENTS CANNOT BRING THESE PRODUCTS TO SCHOOL; they will be taken and held if they are discovered.

5. Cannot interfere with daily responsibilities both in and out of the classroom.

6. Costumes that are overly scary or gory/bloody will not be permitted.

7. Must meet our current School Dress Code: If a student's costume is found to be inappropriate by SCMS Administration, s/he will be asked to remove the costume.

If you have any questions regarding the appropriateness of a particular costume idea, please do not hesitate to ask or call SCMS Administration in advance of October 30th for guidance. We look forward to having a frightfully good time with the kids on Halloween!

SCCS FAMILIES — WE NEED YOUR HELP BY OCTOBER 6!

We are asking ALL SCCS families to complete the Educational Benefits Application by October 6.

It takes less than 5 minutes, requires just one application per family, and every completed application matters. These applications help determine important state and federal funding for programs and services that benefit our students.

Elementary families: Check those backpacks! A flyer with information about the application is being sent home with students today.

Coming to Literacy Night at Morrish on Thursday? We’ll have staff and Chromebooks available to help any SCCS family complete the application on the spot!

Please don’t assume your family doesn’t need to complete it. We need participation from ALL SCCS families.

Deadline: October 6
Less than 5 minutes. One application per family. A BIG impact for SCCS students.
